New Camp for Artists Opens in the Masai Mara: Mara Pure
09/10/2023The newly opened Mara Pure tented safari camp, founded by renowned photographer and artist Anthony Russell, aims to enhance the connection between conservation, art, and creative senses whilst enjoying the real-life drama of the surrounding wilderness. The camp offers a unique experience for travelling creatives who wish to live the life of a contemporary artist and photographer and create artwork in a fun and intimate setting. Guests will have access to a fully equipped studio and the tools, support, and guidance to take home their own piece of original artwork.
Kenyan-born artist and visionary Anthony Russell personally guides his guests through the creative elements of art-making using acrylic paint and mixed media. Their completed artwork is then varnished and packed at camp to take home.
Other projects and activities on-site include guided walks, scent making, yoga, kite flying, beekeeping, beading, and gardening.
Mara Pure is ideal for groups or families on one-of-a-kind trips who wish to tap into both conservation and artistry. Mara Pure sits atop the Siria Escarpment in the Masai Mara with privileged views over the Mara and Serengeti and year-round wildlife below the tents on vast savannah grasslands. The camp has six double units, a mess area, an outdoor sky fire area, and an art tent further off the main site.
